Wolf sculpture (untitled) 2015
Scrap metal sculpture : made from recycled transmission parts and sheet steelThe piece took approximately 80 hours to complete and has full movement like the real creature it is based around has.
It stands approximately 2-3 feet tall which is roughly the same size as a wolf in real life.
The way he has used the scrap metal could be to show how inside every living thing there is a metaphorical machine that keeps us moving.Andrew's use of scrap material could be to show that even when things are old they aren't always obsolete, and that even the most useless of things could create something wonderful and constructive. His work could also be to show that even when something looks like junk with a bit of time, patience and perseverance can become something beautiful.
When you first look at this your eyes are most likely drawn towards the vibrant yellow eyes, this could be symbolic that as humans our eyes show our hidden intentions and emotions even if we try to hide them also that the first thing we subconsciously notice about each other. It could also represent how a wolves' eyes are one of there key survival weapons by making them a main focal point within the piece.
The lighting used within this photograph gives a wide range of tones and lends a 3-dimensional perspective to this piece giving an effect on the audience that it is moving towards the lens.
