I began by sketching a rough outline before beginning to apply tone using oil paint.
I found using oil paint an effective way to mix my colours with the application of linseed oil as seen in the pallet to the left and above
The use of Linseed oil helps the tones of green and brown to blend seamlessly
I utilised turpentine to wear away the oil paint and to give a faded effect.
I find the way in which the paint has worn away effective as it emphasises the texture and tones within the metal
I abraded the paint away using abrasive paper which cut away the paint,
Following this I applied abstract marks emphasise the forms
After much deliberation I found this composition to be ineffective so decided to abrade it away and create a more abstract piece by also twisting and re-contextualising the form.
Following allowing the paint to bleed over the surface of the aluminium I began to add marks to contrast with one another as to emphasise the form of the surface.
